Sjoland tops Re-Rank

Sweden’s Patrik Sjöland is top of Category 11 after the first Re-Rank of The 2007 European Tour season which took place at the conclusion of last week’s BMW Asian Open at the Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club.

The two-time winner on The European Tour, who took the seventh card at the Qualifying School Final Stage at San Roque Club in November, owes his prominence largely to a third place finish in the South African Airways Open at Humewood Golf Club in December.

Sjöland, who also notched a top 25 finish in the TCL Classic at Yalong Bay Golf Club in March, has €86,446 to his name to take pole position with Gary Lockerbie of England second with €72,010 and Australian Andrew Tampion third with €69,491.

Lockerbie has two top ten finishes to his name – like Sjöland in the South African Airways Open and also in the Maybank Malaysian Open – while Tampion’s best showing of the season to date was a share of second place behind Mikko Ilonen in the Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open in February.

As in previous years, the top 20 Official Money winners from within Category 11 and 11(a)-(d) were ranked in money order with the remainder following on in the order established at the start of the season. The first tournament entry deadline to be affected is this week’s Open de España at the Centro Nacional de Golf in Madrid.

There is one further Re-Rank to come in 2007, on Monday August 6 at the conclusion of the World Golf Championships – Bridgestone Invitational and the Russian Open. The first tournament entry deadline to be affected then will be the Scandinavian Masters two weeks hence, following the US PGA Championship.
