Thaworn Wiratchant from Thailand won the Enjoy Jakarta Standard Chartered Indonesia Open, co-sanctioned by the European and Asian Tours, by a comfortable margin of 5 strokes. Wiratchant climbs to World Number 137, in improvement of 57 places, and is now the 6th highest ranked Asian Player.
Fred Funk won the PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP, the PGA TOURS’’s flagship tournament held at the Stadium Course, Sawgrass, Florida. Funk makes a jump of 37 places in the Official World Golf Ranking to number 22 as he becomes the oldest winner of the PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP.
The 2005 Japan Golf Tour resumed with the Token Homemate Cup at Token Tado Country Club Nagoya. Poor weather caused the event to be shortened to 54 holes and the winner was Tadahiro Takayama who triumphed after a playoff with Nozomi Kawahara. Takayama moves up 125 places to number 211 in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Ryan Hietala won the Chitimacha Louisiana Open on the Nationwide Tour held at Le Triomphe Country Club. Hietala is now World Number 544.
