The Royal Bank of Scotland, in association with The European Tour, is to recognise the shot-making skills of the Tour Members with an exciting new award, The Royal Bank of Scotland Shot of the Month, which is being launched to coincide with the start of The 2003 European Tour International Schedule.
The player judged to have played the outstanding shot of each month will be presented with The Royal Bank of Scotland Shot of the Month Trophy from Waterford Crystal plus a cheque for £1000 to be donated to a charity of his choice.
A judging panel, comprising representatives of the media and The European Tour, will select the winning shot from a short list of three nominations from tournaments played on The European Tour International Schedule during each calendar month.
The three shots will be featured during Sky Television’s golf coverage and viewers will then be asked to place the shots in the same order as the panel including a tie-breaker question. First class golf prizes will be offered, courtesy of The Royal Bank of Scotland, to the winning viewer whose choice matches that of the panel.
In addition to the Sky Sports package, golf enthusiasts will also receive regular updates and another chance to register a telephone vote through Golf Weekly magazine.
In October 2003, the winning shots from each month will be entered towards The Royal Bank of Scotland Shot of the Year Award. The panel will then decide the overall winning shot. The European Tour Member deemed to have played the best shot will receive The Royal Bank of Scotland Shot of the Year Trophy from Waterford Crystal and a cheque for £2000 to be donated to a charity of his choice.
Jim Bellany, Head of Sponsorship at The Royal Bank of Scotland, said, “The Shot of the Month increases our involvement with golf and The European Tour while providing golf fans with an opportunity to be part of the action.”
