The Masters Champion, Phil Mickelson, who recently announced that he is to compete in the £2.2 million Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond, is to be joined by fellow Major winners and countrymen Mark Calcavecchia, Ben Curtis, Tom Lehman and Tom Weiskopf. Other Americans confirmed to play in the event include Ricky Barnes, Tim Petrovic and Chris Riley.
Calcavecchia, who played in The 2002 US Ryder Cup Team, will be making his debut at Loch Lomond next month. He said: "I am delighted that The Barclays Scottish Open is on my playing schedule and I am really looking forward to participating. The tournament has a great reputation, as does the golf course."
Curtis, who beat Thomas Björn and Vijay Singh by one shot to secure his first Major victory in last year's Open Golf Championship, will also be competing at Loch Lomond for the first time.
Fellow Major winner Lehman, who won at Loch Lomond back in 1997, is looking forward to returning to compete in The 2004 Barclays Scottish Open. He said: "It will be great to be back at Loch Lomond again in July. It's a wonderful tournament and one of my all time favourite golf courses in the world."
Former Open Champion and co-designer of Loch Lomond, Weiskopf plans to compete in The Barclays Scottish Open for the second time while Barnes will be returning to Loch Lomond for the first time in his professional career, having competed as an amateur in last year's tournament.
Petrovic, who enjoyed a top five finish in the recent Bank of America Colonial, a US PGA Tour event, will be playing at Loch Lomond for the second consecutive year. While Riley, who finished tied for second place in the Buick Invitational in February, will be teeing it up for the first time at Loch Lomond. Riley said:
"I am really looking forward to my first visit to The Barclays Scottish Open. I have heard great things about the tournament and the golf course - it should be a great trip."
