England's Warren Bennett has pulled out of the World Golf Championships-EMC2 World Cup in Japan due to the ankle injury which forced him to withdraw from the Volvo Masters Andalucia.
Bennett injured his ankle while practising for the Dunhill Links Championship and missed that event and the subsequent Telefonica Open de Madrid.
The problem resulted in him withdrawing after the second round of the Volvo Masters Andalucia. After some deliberation, he opted to pull out of the EMC2 World Cup at The Taihieyo Club, Gotemba, Japan.
His place will be taken by Paul Casey, the next available candidate from the Volvo Order of Merit. The European Tour rookie will be representing England for the first time at any level.
Bennett said: "I've thought about the situation and although the ankle is better than it was three or four weeks ago, it is a long way to Japan and I don't want to take the risk of not being fit.
"I think it's important to be fair to Ian Poulter, my partner, and Paul Casey, who was waiting to hear whether or not he would replace me. Also, I feel that it is in my long term interests to rest the ankle."
