With This Win... Niclas Fasth - BMW International Open

With this win Niclas Fasth secured his sixth European Tour International Schedule victory in his 269th European Tour event as a professional. He joins Anders Forsbrand and Henrik Stenson on six European Tour wins and just one behind the all-time most prolific Swedish – Robert Karlsson with seven. It is also his second European Tour victory on German soil, following The Deutsche Bank Players’ Championship of Europe in 2005.

*Third consecutive European Tour season with a victory, dating back to 2005. Since winning the 2005 New Zealand Open, has won five times from his last 60European Tour events.

*Gains a place in the 2008 HSBC Champions.

*Moves into the top six of The European Tour Order of Merit with €1,096,369.

*Third consecutive season he has surpassed €1 million in The European Tour Order of Merit and fourth time in his European Tour career.

*Second consecutive Swedish winner of the BMW International Open, following Stenson in 2006.

*Third Swedish winner of the BMW International Open, following Karlsson (1997) and Stenson (2006).

*The 73rd Swedish victory on The European Tour.

Fourth Swedish victory on The 2007 European Tour International Schedule, following Stenson (Dubai Desert Classic and World Golf Championships – Accenture Match Play) and Peter Hedblom (Maybank Malaysian Open).

Third of his six European Tour wins have come after leading going into the final round. They are: 2000 Madeira Island Open, 2006 Mallorca Classic and 2007 BMW International Open.

  • Sixth top finish of the 2007 season and third consecutive top ten and 43rd  of his European Tour career.

*Moves to 22nd in the Official World Golf Ranking – his highest ever position.

*His 11th  win as a professional.

*The 31st different winner on the 2007 European Tour from the 32 events played to date.

*The 175th European Tour victory by a former European Challenge Tour player.
