Billy Horschel has been voted the European Tour’s Golfer of the Month
Billy Horschel named Golfer of the Month for September after his thrilling win at the BMW PGA Championship in the third Rolex Series event of the 2021 season. The American trailed by two shots heading into the final round across the famed West Course at Wentworth Golf Club but a bogey free seven-under-par 65 catapulted him to the top of the leaderboard with a birdie at the last hole to win by a single shot. This win was Horschel’s first in the Rolex Series and took him to second in the Race to Dubai Rankings.
In second place was Nicolai Højgaard after his first European Tour victory at the DS Automobiles Italian Open. In a close fought battle at the 2023 Ryder Cup venue, Højgaard lead by a shot heading into round four in what became and immense battle with Tommy Fleetwood in Rome where both men settled for even par final rounds. Astonishingly this win made in back-to-back wins for the Højgaard’s as his twin brother, Rasmus won the week prior at the OMEGA European Masters.
Rounding off the voting was Kristoffer Broberg of Sweden. Broberg, who had been in the golfing wilderness for nearly 5 years and on a medical extension in 2020 after a horrific run of injuries since his win in China back in 2015. Having almost quite the game until a final surgery he won the Dutch Open highlighted by a third round 61 to set up a career changing win.
