Min Woo Lee admitted he truly felt like a rookie professional on day one of the Australian PGA Championship as he fired an impressive 68 in the company of two Major Champions.
Lee only turned professional last season but the 21-year-old has shown in a short time that he belongs in the paid ranks, only narrowly missing out on full European Tour playing privileges in 2019.
On day one at RACV Royal Pines Resort he teed it up alongside 2009 Open Champion Stewart Cink and the 2013 Masters Tournament winner Adam Scott and, while he admitted to some nerves, he outscored them both to sit just one shot off the lead as he recovered from two early bogeys.
"I didn’t start too good," he said. "It was rookie pro out there early on and then I brought it back. It was really nice, they were awesome guys, it was all fun.
"Golf is a weird sport, you go do your own thing and you can’t really focus on other people.
"It’s pretty special to get that opportunity early on in pro careers like that. I’ll just be grateful and take the opportunity."
