Collin Morikawa has been named Golfer of the Month for July after winning his second Major Championship at The 149th Open contested at Royal St. George's Golf Club in Kent.

Morikawa’s win came in just his eighth Major Championship start and sits alongside the US PGA Championship he won in 2020. Seemingly on the less favourable side of the draw, Morikawa opened with rounds of 67-64 to trail South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen by two shots before adding weekend rounds of 68-66 to win with a total of 15 under par.

The American’s Championship was defined on the back nine during Saturday’s third round where he was two over par through six holes but rallied to shoot four under from then on and sign for a 68 to trail the leader by one.

Nacho Elvira finished second In the July vote after winning the Cazoo Open supported by Gareth Bale at Celtic Manor Resort for his first win on the European Tour following a play-off against Justin Harding across the 2010 course. His maiden Tour title came in his 195th start and eight years on the circuit.

Australian Min Woo Lee came in third courtesy of his win at the abrdn Scottish Open, his second Tour win and his first Rolex Series title. Again, coming through a play-off, Lee carded a bogey free final round of 64, which featured six consecutive birdies on the front nine.

Rounding off the voting was Lucas Herbert who picked up his second European Tour win at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open. The Australian went wire-to-wire at Mount Juliet estate to win by three shots.
