Bernd Wiesberger has been voted Hilton Golfer of the Month for May after triumphing at the Made in Denmark presented by FREJA – his first victory on tour since 2017.
The 33-year-old Austrian received 44 per cent of the public vote ahead of Marcus Kinhult in second place, who received 30 per cent of the vote after collecting his maiden European Tour title at the Betfred British Masters.
In pursuit of a first win in two years, Wiesberger – who missed a large part of last season through injury – closed with a 66 to hold off the challenge of Scottish rookie Robert MacIntyre and claim a one-shot victory in Denmark. With that victory, Wiesberger also climbed inside the top 20 of the Race to Dubai.
Kinhult came in a close second after his stunning victory over the links of Hillside. The 22-year-old got the better of a host of European Tour winners for his first piece of silverware, which in turn saw him move inside the top 25 in Race to Dubai.
Englishman Matt Wallace came in third place after back-to-back top three finishes. He followed a share of second place at the Betfred British Masters with a tied third finish at the US PGA Championship, his best finish at a Major Championship.
Mikko Korhonen rounded off the voting. Korhonen won the Volvo China Open in a play-off after posting four rounds in the 60s. His victory in Shenzhen was his second on tour.
