Everything you need to know from day two at Heritage Golf Club.
Hill hit the heights, Stone stayed on a roll and Thomas Detry produced a very early contender for shot of the season on Friday at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
Here is everything you need to know from day two at Heritage Golf Club.
Calum climbs to the top
Calum Hill showed his class last summer with a strong showing on home soil in the Rolex Series at the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open and just a week later he was a winner on the European Challenge Tour. Another win and three top tens in his next four starts essentially secured his place on the European Tour for 2020 and after a stunning second round 64, he takes a one shot lead into the weekend in the Indian Ocean. "So far, so good," he said of the start to his European Tour career. Brandon Stone, Matthieu Pavon and Detry are just a shot behind at 11 under.
Stone on a roll
After a 2018 season that saw him claim a maiden Rolex Series victory, it would be fair to say that a 2019 Race to Dubai with just two top tens was something of a disappointment for Brandon Stone. One of those top tens was a runner up finish at his final event of the season in Portugal and Stone has carried some momentum into the new campaign, starting 66-67 in Mauritius. "It’s going to be a challenge and at the same time, there’s a lot of really top quality players in the field, so you’re going to go out and try to shoot as low as you can and, hopefully, by Sunday evening it’s going to be enough," he said.
And so is Joel
Joel Sjöholm played in South Africa last week on an invite and found his form in stunning style to secure a second place finish and a spot in the field here in Mauritius. He's certainly not wasting his chance and a second round 66 left him just five shots off the lead heading into the weekend. Born to Bogey? Not a chance.

What. A. Shot.
The season is only an event and a half old but you'll not see many better shots than this over the next 11 months or so. Take a bow Thomas Detry.
