European Tour Qualifying School Set to Tee off

The quest for places on the 2005 European Tour gets underway this week at Stage One of The European Tour Qualifying School which encompasses five venues on the Continent.

Three English courses will feature during Stage One – St Annes Old Links, the De Vere Carden Park Golf Club and Chart Hills Golf Club – as well as the Golf-Und Land-Club Köln in Germany and Golf de Moliets in France.

A total of 715 players are set to begin a journey that will come to an end at the Qualifying School Finals at the San Roque Club, Spain, from November 11-16, where the top 35 plus ties will earn European Tour Cards for next season.

In between now and then, the 715 players beginning at Stage One will have to play 252 holes of their best golf in attempt to become one of the 35 best players at the San Roque Club. Players will play four rounds over Stages One and Two, before the gruelling six round test at the Qualifying School Finals, which was won by Englishman Richard McEvoy last season.

It all starts at the five aforementioned Stage One courses on Tuesday morning, with Stage One coming to a close this Friday, September 17.

The Qualifying School Stage Two will take place from November 3-6 at three venues across Spain before the Finals at San Roque Club.
