Day Two of The European Tour Qualifying School Stage One came to a close with Moliets Golf club in France producing the lowest scores across the five Stage One venues.
Frenchman Cedric Menut posted the lowest Stage One halfway total after a second round 66 took him to ten under par 134 – one shot clear of England’s David Ryles, with Charles Dubois of France and Spain’s Vicente Blazquez tied in third place on seven under.
At the Golf-Und Land-Club Köln in Germany, Italy’s Marco Bernardini took a one shot lead after a second round of four under par 68 handed the 2000 BMW Russian Open Champion a two round aggregate of six under 138. He leads by one shot from Olivier Chabaud of France and two Amateur players – Rikard Karlberg of Sweden and the Italian Francesco Molinari.
Over at the St Annes Old Links in England, Oliver Whiteley took advantage of playing on home soil to establish a two shot lead from his fellow countryman, the Amateur Gary Lockerbie. Whiteley posted a second round 67 to get to six under par, while Lockerbie carded a six under par 66 on day two for a four under total of 140.
Four under par is the leading score at Carden Park Golf Club. Scotsman Graham Rankin and England’s Mark Smith both improved upon their opening rounds of 73 with 67s on day two, handing them a share of the lead alongside the Portuguese António Sobrihno – whose 66 was the best round of the day at the English venue.
At England’s third venue, Chart Hills Golf Club, Simon Cooke shot three under 69 to establish a two shot lead from his Amateur compatriot Sam Osborne of England.
