Qualifying School Stage One Sees 149 Players Through to Stage Two

The European Tour Qualifying School Stage One is complete, with 149 players from 696 making it through to Stage Two from the five venues across Europe.

England’s Simon Cooke took first place at Chart Hills Golf Club with a final round 72 to finish on ten under par 278 and lead 29 qualifiers on level par or better from the English venue.

Also in England, Scotsman Graham Rankin took the first place at the Qualifying School’s Stage One at Carden Park Golf Club with a final round 70 for a four round aggregate of 281. Twenty-seven others joined Rankin in moving to the next Stage with scores of four over or better.

At St Annes Old Links, the players enjoyed the best conditions of the week after their earlier rounds had been seriously affected by some strong, gusting winds. Twenty-eight players made it through on level par 288 or better, with Ireland’s David Mortimer leading the way with a 12 under par total of 276.

Italy’s Marco Bernardini led from start to finish at the Golf-Und Land-Club Köln in Germany, his final round 71 giving him a ten under aggregate of 278. There were 33 qualifiers from Germany on three over 291 or better, while 31 players on three under 285 or better are through to Stage Two from the Moliets Golf Club in France, where Colombia’s Manuel Merizalde took the top spot with a 13 under 275 total.
