Rejoined Team Europe at The 2018 Ryder Cup after three consecutive Ryder Cup appearances from 2004 to 2008, and increased his points total to 6.5, helping Europe to victory on three separate occasions.

Continued to rise back up the world rankings in 2014 by capturing his 13th European Tour title at the KLM Open before achieving success on the PGA TOUR in 2015 and finishing fifth in the FedEx Cup in 2016.

In 2010, he came close to winning his first WGC title but was beaten in the final of the WGC-Accenture Match Play by compatriot Ian Poulter, and then nearly won his first Major, only to finish tied third at the 139th Open Championship at St Andrews - his best Major finish to date.
