    The eight-time European Tour Number One further confirmed his legendary status as he inspired Europe to a 14 1/2 - 13 1/2 victory at The 2010 Ryder Cup.

    The only Ryder Cup player in history to hole the winning putt twice (1997 and 2004). Unbeaten in eight singles matches with a record of six wins and two halves.

    The most prolific British winner in European Tour history, with 31 titles. His milestone success came in 2007 when he ended a 19-month winless streak with victory in the European Open at The K Club, surpassing Sir Nick Faldo's record of 30 wins.

    Made his 600th European Tour appearance at the 2014 Turkish Airlines Open.

    Turned professional in 1988 and was named Rookie of the Year that same season. Spent almost 400 weeks in the top ten of the Official World Golf Rankings.

    Carried his imperious form to the Staysure Tour, becoming a three-time Senior Major Champion and two-time winner of the John Jacobs Trophy for topping the Order of Merit. Has six victories on the Staysure Tour in addition to his three Senior Major wins and four further victories on PGA TOUR Champions.

    Raised in Yorkshire and spent a number of years with Ilkley Golf Club, where he was tutored by former professional Bill Ferguson.

    Awarded the OBE in 2004.
