Won almost every conceivable amateur title in Belgium between the ages of 14 and 24 when he turned professional. The highlight of his amateur career was winning the European Amateur Championship in Geneva in 1997 and representing his country at all levels during the 1990s. Graduated from the Challenge Tour in 1999 having recorded six top ten finishes without a victory but struggled in his rookie season, finishing 192nd in the Volvo Order of Merit. After a year back on the Challenge Tour, Didier returns to The European Tour having regained his card at the Qualifying School Finals. Enjoyed double delight at the end of 2002 when he got married at the end of September, a month before he claimed his maiden victory on the Challenge Tour with a two shot win in the Fortis Bank Challenge Open in Holland.
