Captured his maiden Senior Tour title in 2010, defeating Horacio Carbonetti in a play-off to win the inaugural Sicilian Senior Open. Led the Argentine by one stroke going into the final round but carded a 74 before sealing the victory on the first extra hole. Enjoyed a fine rookie season on the European Senior Tour in 2008, finishing in the top ten on six out of 13 appearances to end the season in tenth position in the Order of Merit. Nearly landed his maiden title at the Parkridge Polish Seniors Championship but was denied by Ian Woosnam's stunning final round 63 to miss out by one stroke. The Spaniard studied economics at University, but gave up in order to concentrate on golf. Worked as a commercial pilot, flying up and down the Costa del Sol, to supplement his golf income. Spent ten years teaching the game to tourists in the Swiss resort of Davos and then became, aged 34, The European Tour's oldest rookie. Subsequently spent seven years on The European Tour, but left it late to hang onto his card in 1999. Two top 15s were followed by eighth in the Sarazen World Open, and his cheque for €13,259 ensured he would enjoy full playing privileges in 2000 after ending the year in 113th position on the Order of Merit.
