A stalwart of the Senior Tour, will be playing in his 14th season in 2010. The wise-cracking Northern Irishman has not won since 1999, but came close in October 2005 when he left his birdie putt an inch short of the cup at the Algarve Seniors Open. Could only watch as, moments later, American Jerry Bruner holed from 30 foot to claim the title and leave him tied for second place with José Rivero of Spain and Scotland’s Sam Torrance. His best result prior to that was another second place, this time after losing to America’s Hank Woodrome in a play-off for the 2003 Wallonia Open in Belgium. Lost a play-off in the 1998 Senior British Open to Brian Huggett. Won four European Tour titles in the 1970s and early 1980s, including the 1975 Sun Alliance PGA Match Play Championship. He played in The 1973 Ryder Cup and the World Cup on six occasions. Since turning 50, he has won twice in 194 appearances on the Senior Tour but has constantly been hampered by a series of niggling injuries. He has had both his knee and his elbow rebuilt and at the end of the 2000 season underwent laser surgery to improve his deteriorating eyesight.
