Came close to adding a Senior Major Championship to his glittering CV when he took a one stroke lead into the final round of The Senior Open Championship at Sunningdale in 2009 but had to settle for a share of sixth place. Rolled back the years with a vintage performance at The 137th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale in 2008, which he led going into the final round before finishing in a tie for third behind Padraig Harrington. Went on to finish tied fifth in The Senior Open Championship at Royal Troon the following week.

The only golfer in history to be Number One on both sides of the Atlantic, winning The European Tour Order of Merit in 1982 and topping the US PGA Tour Money List in 1986, 1990 and 1995.

Won The Open Championship twice, at Royal St George’s in 1993 and at Turnberry in 1986, the year where he led all four Majors into the final round.

Accorded Honorary Life Membership of The European Tour in April 2000 and became eligible to play on the European Senior Tour in February 2005, but a long-standing back problem forced him to delay his senior debut until July of that year, when he finished third at the Senior Open Championship.

Devotes much of his time to his expanding business career as Chairman of Great White Shark Enterprises, a multi-national corporation comprising golf course design, turf, residential development, apparel and golf equipment distribution. Initial ambition was to become a pilot in the Australian Air Force, but opted for golf and took just four tournaments to record the first of 84 titles worldwide.
