The man known as the Wild Thing shot to fame in 1991 when he won the US PGA Championship, having made it into the field at Crooked Stick at the last minute when Nick Price withdrew and Daly was the only alternate on site. Virtually unknown at the time and playing his third Major, he shot rounds of 69, 67, 69 and 71 to win by three shots, and later earned the US PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award. A lover of loud, unorthodox clothing, he won his second Major in 1995 when he beat Costantino Rocca in a play-off for The Open Championship at St Andrews. Fell off the radar in the late 1990s and early 2000s as he struggled with alcohol and gambling addictions and weight gain, but made his comeback in Europe in 2010. Relied on sponsors’ invitations, but in 2012 secured full playing rights for 2013 by finishing 85th in The Race to Dubai, thanks to good performances in the Commercialbank Qatar Masters presented by Dolphin Energy, Sicilian Open and the US PGA Championship. Enjoys writing song lyrics and playing the guitar, and recorded a largely autobiographical album entitled "My Life", featuring guest performances by Darius Rucker, Willie Nelson, Johnny Lee and Daron Norwood. Involved in many charitable causes, most notably Make-a-Wish Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Set up a college scholarship fund for the two daughters of the late Thomas Weaver, who was struck by lightning during a first-round storm delay at the 1991 PGA Championship.
