Nicknamed the ‘Big Dolphin’ due to his burly physique and because he comes from the coastal town of Hua Hin, south of Bangkok. The Thai grew up idolising Boonch u Runagkit and fellow Hua Hin resident Prayad Marksaeng and won numerous junior tournaments, including the Thailand Amateur Open Championship in 2001, 2002 and 2003. The son of Suthep, the first Thai to win the Thailand Open, Meesawat wanted to play in America but was convinced to play on the Asian Tour by Major winner Vijay Singh, and won his first title in the 2006 SK Telecom Open in South Korea.

Hampered by injury in 2009 and 2010 but bounced back in 2011 and qualified for the Open Championship at Royal St George’s. Was an Affiliate Member of the European Tour in 2012 and took full advantage by finishing 98th in the Race to Dubai thanks to strong performances in the Avantha Masters and WGC-HSBC Champions. Produced a gutsy finish to the 2015 season to regain his full playing privileges for a second time. Occupying the last exempt spot in the Race to Dubai heading into the final regular event, he finished tied 29th in the UBS Hong Kong Open to guarantee another season on the top tier.
