    Brother was a professional ten-pin bowler, while father won All-American honours in baseball at Wake Forest University. Donated $100,000 of 1989 Las Vegas Invitational winnings to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital in Orlando. One of the most consistent performers on the US PGA Tour he has finished in the top 40 on the US money list every year since 1980, with exception of 1992 when he needed surgery to repair shoulder problem. Lost play-off to Nick Faldo for 1989 Masters Tournament. Second oldest American Ryder Cup rookie in 1997 at the age of 42 (Lee Elder was 45). Won his first tournament in his rookie season of 1980. Won twice in 2001 winning the Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic and Advil Western Open.
