Finally made his European Senior Tour breakthrough in 2008, nine years after his maiden appearance, when he triumphed at the Azores Senior Open by two shots from England's Nick Job. That was one of four top ten finishes in 2008 en route to finishing 20th in the Order of Merit. Desperately unlucky not to win The Senior Open Championship at Muirfield in 2007 having led until the back nine on Sunday, only to finish one shot behind Tom Watson. In 2006, he also came close to winning, having finished second-fourth-second-fourth in the final four events of the year. Finished fifth in the Order of Merit that year and fourth in 2007. Won his card after sweeping to a four stroke victory at the 2005 Qualifying School Finals at Pinta Golf Course in the Algarve, finishing with a 72-hole total of ten under par 274. Estimates he has filled up 20 passports to play golf around the world and has won events on three different tours, including the Martini International on The European Tour in 1974. One of the highlights of his career came when he captured the Ford Senior Players’ Championship in 2002 on the Champions Tour. Grew up in a house behind the 12th green at Royal Melbourne Golf Club.
