The two-time Masters Tournament champion has played four times on the Staysure Tour since turning 50 and will make his first appearance on home soil on the over-50’s circuit at Meliã Villaitana Golf Club, Benidorm.

The victorious 2012 Ryder Cup Captain last featured at the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship and the Shipco Masters presented by Simon’s Golf Clubat the start of the 2018 season.

After suffering a back injury during the summer, Olazábal returned to action at the Andalucía Valderrama Masters hosted by the Sergio Garcia Foundation on the European Tour. Now his attention reverts to the Staysure Tour and for a visit to eastern Spain with several familiar faces.

“I played on the Staysure Tour in Denmark and playing in Spain in November is going to be very special,” he said.

“I am going to be with my good friends Jiménez, Miguel Angel Martin, Santiago Luna and José Rivero and it will be nice to support new events such as the Costa Blanca Benidorm Senior Golf Masters.

“I had a bad back and was out for a few months, also my mother has had a complicated operation and I decide to stay at home to look after her. This is why I have not competed since July.

“I do not know the course yet, but I will have some practice rounds and hopefully play well in front of the local crowds.”
