Having missed three months of action last year due to a scary injury caused by an apple, Brett Rumford has made an impressive comeback to The European Tour. Part of that comeback included this magnificent bunker shot in his home town at the ISPS HANDA Perth International.
Rumford's shot has officially been crowned February's Shot of the Month, having received more than 70 per cent of votes from My European Tour fans over the past two weeks.
Rumford was tied for the lead heading into Saturday's third round in Perth but found himself well off the pace as he arrived at the 14th hole four over par for the day. After finding the greenside bunker at the short par four, Rumford faced a difficult shot with very little green to play with. Using a little local knowledge, the 38 year old holed out for eagle.
He would go on to eagle the following hole, almost making albatross, to jump back into contention and eventually finish inside the top seven on his second straight start.
"It was a random day," said Rumford after his round. "That's golf for you, that's why we love it."
The Australian's shot beat off competition from Henrik Stenson, George Coetzee, Peter Uihlein and Toby Tree to win the February award.
