RSM presents the third episode from an all-new series shining a light on key roles and personalities on the European Tour, this time profiling the unique caddie-player relationship with Martin Kaymer’s long-time bagman, Craig ‘Wee Man’ Connelly.
Part guide, part philosopher, part psychologist, part friend. The union between a golfer and their caddie is unlike any other in professional sport.
More than just a mere colleague, this special relationship can have a direct impact on a player’s success.
It’s a concept exemplified perfectly by Connelly and Kaymer, who have seen it all over the course of their careers – from multiple Majors to miracles at Medinah and much more.
More than two decades after carrying his first bag on the Ladies European Tour, and having worked with the likes of Colin Montgomerie and Paul Casey in addition to his current employer Kaymer, Connelly talks preparation, collaboration, communication and friendship in The Wingman…
After the opening episode tracked Emma Cabrera Bello, a member of the European Tour’s Player Relations team, the second revisited Carnoustie with 1999 Open Champion Paul Lawrie.
The series will profile characters from across the golfing spectrum and follows on from European Tour Official Supporter RSM’s successful academic performance study completed in 2017, which identified insights into player performances and time spent over the ball.
