Became the first Chinese player to win on home soil on the European Tour when he captured the 2015 Volvo China Open. Rounds of 73-66-69-71 gave him a one stroke victory at Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club, earning him exemption on the European Tour until the end of 2017. A few weeks later he became the first Chinese recipient of the Hilton European Tour Golfer of the Month award. Did not start playing golf until he was 17 and learned the game from his brother, a single-figure handicapper. Loves basketball and was a strong player in high school, but even at 6ft felt he was not tall enough to compete seriously. Played on the Japan Golf Tour, winning twice, and the Asian Tour before his victory in Shanghai.
