Becoming known as something of a Qualifying School specialist after gaining his card at the Final Stage in 2010 (as an amateur), 2011 and 2012. Made only six cuts in 2011 and five in 2012, but earned another shot for 2013 by taking the 11th card at PGA Catalunya, the same as Branden Grace a year earlier, who went on win four times in a phenomenal 2012 season. An avid Formula One fan, he graduated from plastic clubs to real ones aged five before joining Ashton Under Lyne Golf Club near his home in Manchester – the club he is still attached to – at seven. Highlight of his amateur career was his victory at the British Boys Championship in 2006 at Royal Aberdeen. Had hoped to return there for the Walker Cup in 2011, but the lure of turning professional and competing on The European Tour proved too strong to resist. Hopes to follow in the footsteps of his friend and compatriot Danny Willett, who has established himself on The European Tour after coming through the Qualifying School. Cites Tiger Woods, Ernie Els and Rory McIlroy as his three golfing heroes.
