Frenchman Romain Wattel signed for a six under par 66 to take a one shot lead over compatriot Christophe Brazillier at Arcos Gardens as The European Tour's Second Qualifying Stage got underway.

Australian Wade Ormsby and Ben Parker were in a share of third place after posting 68s in Spain, where nearly 300 golfers are battling it out over four venues to earn a European Tour card for 2011.

At Costa Ballena, Argentina’s Julian Etulain and Englishman James Ruth shared top spot after both carding six under par 66. The pair lead by one from five players including Germany's Bernd Ritthammer.

Spaniard Luis Claverie and Englishman Paul Dwyer were top of the pile at Hacienda Del Alamo, carding six under par 66 to lead three players – Englishman Peter Baker, Germany’s Nicolas Meintinger and Mexican Oscar Fraustro – by one shot.

Finally, at El Valle Golf Resort, American Matthew Rosenfeld leads by one after a five under par 66, with Welshman Llewellyn Matthews sharing second spot with Germany’s Florian Fritsch and Switzerland’s Rafaël De Sousa at four under.

Second Stage consists of four rounds, with a place in the Final Stage at PGA Golf Catalunya next month at stake.
