Sweden Andreas Högberg finished as lead qualifier among the 21 players who made it through the European Tour First Qualifying Stage – Section C at Golf d’Hardelot in France.

Högberg closed with a 68 for a 13 under par total of 271 to finish one ahead of England’s Gareth Davies (67), Frenchman Alexander Levy (67) and Spain’s Adrian Otaegui (69).

Amateur Marcos Pastor of France shot the round of the day with a brilliant final round of 62 to finish at nine under par and just three shots within the cut-off point.

The goal was to make it through to the Second Qualifying Stage and 21 players succeeded with scores of six under par or better. They will now focus on the next test, to be played in the first week of December over four courses in Spain - Costa Ballena Ocean Club, Las Colinas G & CC, El Valle Golf Resort and the South Course at La Manga Club.

Another four rounds await them there and then those who make the grade at the Second Qualifying Stage move on to the six-round examination of the Final Qualifying Stage at PGA Catalunya Resort, Girona, Spain from December 10-15.
