Sweden’s Robin Wingardh won the First Qualifyign Stage Section C at Circolo Golf Bogogno in Italy as 32 players progressed through to the Second Stage.

A one under par final round of 71 gave  Wingardh the win at First Stage in the Italian venue.with a 15 under par total, two shots clear of South African Dylan Fritelli after his two under par final round 70.

Meanwhile, former US Amateur Champion Kelly Kraft carded a two under par final round of 69 to win The European Tour Qualifying School First Stage at Golf d’Hardelot by two shots.

The 23 year old American will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of his two immediate predecessors to the US Amateur throne, 2009 champion Byeong hun An and 2010 winner Peter Uihlein, who have both played on the European circuit this year.

Kraft finished two shots clear of England’s Jason Barnes and Derek Gillespie of Canada, while the leader after the first three days, James Reubotham, finished with a disappointing three over par 74 but still managed to qualify for Second Stage, alongside 18 others.

Another player to qualify was Frenchman François Calmels, a winner on the European Challenge Tour having claimed the 2009 Telenet Trophy.

The First Stage at Golf d'Hardelot suffered a delay in play during the second round but despite some terrible weather conditions, the greenkeepers and agronomists managed to keep it in pristine condition and finish the tournament in good time.
