Welshman Liam Bond regained the lead of the Qualifying School First Stage Section D at Frilford Heath after signing for a round of 70 on the third day.
Bond moved to seven under par, one shot clear of a trio of players, Northern Irishman Chris Devlin (73), England’s Thomas Haylock (71) and American Elliot Wainwright (70).
A total of 75 players made the cut, which fell on ten under par, with the top 29 and ties after the fourth round progressing to the Second Stage, held at four venues across southern Spain in November.
Meanwhile, American Chan Kim maintained his lead in the Qualifying School First Stage Section D at Ribagolfe, signing for a third round of 71 to move two shots clear of the field.
Kim’s nearest challenger is Spaniard Gerard Piris Mateu, who is on six under par after carding a round of 69 in Portugal.
A total of 68 players made the cut on nine over par, with the top 29 and ties progressing to the Second Stage.
