Chris Lloyd is eyeing a return to the European Tour after the young Englishman, who has played two full seasons on the top tier but had no status in 2016, led the qualifiers from The Roxburghe Hotel and Golf Course leg of Qualifying School First Stage Section A.

The 24 year old has not made a single appearance on either the European Tour or the Challenge Tour this season but the two-time Junior Ryder Cup player took one step on the path back to the top as he carded a final round 69 for a 15 under total, finishing three clear at the top.

Among the 21 other qualifiers from the Scottish venue were Jack Doherty, who earned his European Tour card through Qualifying School in 2014, and his fellow Scot Ewen Ferguson - who was joined in the qualifying spots by his 2015 Walker Cup team-mate Cormac Sharvin of Northern Ireland.

At the other First Stage Section A venue, Golf and Country Club Fleesensee, Finland’s Mikael Salminen finished top of the pile on 15 under after signing for a four under final round 68, while American Chase Koepka, brother of Ryder Cup players Brooks, was also one of the 25 qualifiers from the German venue.
