With the Alps on its doorstep, the stunning Bogogno Golf Resort provides a picturesque setting for this week’s final set of First Stage Qualifiers.
Located just 25 minutes away from Milano Malpensa Airport in a beautiful area surrounding Lake Maggiore, Bogogno overlooks the peaks of the Monte Rosa mountain chain and is just one hour away from the Italian Alps.
The resort boasts two championships golf courses, but this week’s competitors will tackle the Del Conte course which was designed by renowned architect Robert von Hagge before it was inaugurated in 1997.
Fast forward 20 years and the par-72 Del Conte course is now a mainstay on the European Tour Qualifying School schedule, having first played host to Q-School in 2005.
The design of Del Conte course is similar to a links course with wide open spaces, large lakes and wild rough at the edges.
Last season Argentina’s Rafa Echenique started his journey to the European Tour at Bogogno. After finishing tied 11th in Italy Echenique came through Second Stage unscathed in Spain and went on to claim the 11th card after six tough rounds at Final Stage at PGA Catalunya Resort.
