THOMAS BJORN: I played well early on and missed a few short putts, and then in the middle I played poorly, but the thing about this golf course is that you know 17 and 18 -- if you can keep yourself going and maybe finish off with a couple of birdies, you can always get the round in. I finished off four, three and that just goes from being a mediocre round to being a decent round. That's Wentworth.
MICHAEL CAMPBELL: It was rough today. Very, very rough. I was a little flat after last week’s performance. Lucky to shoot 70. The course is playing very hard. If you miss the fairway you are in deep trouble. These greens are getting harder each day and come Monday they are going to be very hard. It was nice to birdie 16 and 17 and finish two under.
ERNIE ELS: Well, I didn't play well. Really, just try to hang in there, really. I had my problems off the tee, and that's not good around here. But I’ll worked on that, definitely.
NICK FALDO: Nothing, not very consistent in the middle. Just sort of struggled in the middle for a while and then had a couple of chances coming in, which I didn't make, so nothing great. When they are shooting 9-under, it doesn't feel very good.
PADRAIG HARRINGTON: I’m very happy with that, especially as I pulled a muscle in my back on Monday and I didn’t think I’d be playing but happily four days and some treatment got me there and now I have a good score to match it.
MARK JAMES: It’s great to be back. I was trying to concentrate on my game. It is nice to be back playing. Obviously the day highlighted some deficiencies in my game so I shall be working hard from now on.
MIKAEL LUNDBERG: (Hole in one on the tenth) Well, to be honest, it wasn’t that well struck a shot actually. I hit a five iron and pulled it a little, about 15 yards left of the hole but it caught the bank on the green and rolled down into the hole. It was a great feeling but it can be difficult to concentrate after a shot like that but I kept it going and played pretty well on the back nine.
PAUL MCGINLEY: Solid start, fireworks and then solid finish. Picked up a couple of bad lies on the last two holes. Little bit of a disappointing finish -- always to finish 5, 5, at Wentworth.
But, overall I've got to be very happy. 66 is a great start, again.
COLIN MONTGOMERIE: To finish eight-four would have been bad enough but to finish eight-five is even worse, so there is a lot to do tomorrow. I think I’ll need something like 65. I’m quite capable of doing that and I’m looking forward to doing it. I started well with a birdie today at the first, three wood, six iron and a putt from 20 feet so if that starts happening tomorrow, we’ll see what happens, but I need something like 65, minimum.
NICK O’HERN: I had a good first round last year and I managed to repeat it. So, of course it's fine, beautiful, and this is more like -- the greens are nice and smooth.
PHILLIP PRICE: I was playing great. After ten holes I expected a little better. Expected a little better than 67 after then, but I'm quite happy. One of my next goals was winning. It was very nice to win Portugal, but it didn't have the top names there. So, that's the next part, try to win one when all of the best players are there.
VIJAY SINGH: Ten shots behind the leader. The course is playing hard today – hard and fast. If you don’t get the ball near the hole you are going to have a hard time scoring. I played not badly. I thought I played really nice but missed six putts from within five or six feet. When you start missing them you are going to have a hard time scoring.
STEVE WEBSTER: I’ve been hooking the ball the last couple of weeks which I never normally do but today it was fine, really good, but there is still a lot of work to put into my swing. But four rounds like today, I’ll be pretty happy.
LEE WESTWOOD: Mixture of rubbish and really rubbish. I’m not rusty, just playing poorly. Hit one of the ugliest drives off the ninth tee I have hit in quite a while. I’m just trying to make a few changes and don’t quite feel comfortable with it yet.
