Bradford Vaughan, the 27 year old former South African Amateur Champion, birdied two of the last three holes to take a one stroke lead over Bradley Dredge of Wales going into the final round of the dunhill championship at Houghton Golf Club in Johannesburg.
Ten groups returned to the course for a 6.30am resumption to their third round following the suspension of play on Saturday afternoon due to electrical storms. By the end of the round Vaughan’s six under par 66 was good enough to carry him into the lead on 202, 14 under par.
Dredge, who resumed on the tenth, began his morning with a bogey five and also dropped a stroke at the 13th, but birdies at the 11th and 18th saw him round in 70 for a total of 203.
Volvo PGA champion, Anders Hansen, birdied the last for a 69 and a three round aggregate of 204, the same score as England’s Mark Roe.
