• Defending Champion, Tiger Woods will looking to create a European Tour record by wining the tournament for a third consecutive season. Should he be successful he would be the first player to win the same event for three consecutive years on two different occasions, having already won the event in 1999, 2000 and 2001, then in 2005 and 2006.

• Another record Woods would claim should he win, it would be his sixth overall in the tournament – a European Tour record -  established when he recorded his sixth win in the 2007 World Golf Championships - CA Championship.

• Woods is seeking his 14th  WGC individual title. He has won the CA Championship six times, the Bridgestone  Invitational five times and the Accenture Match Play twice. Since 1999 he has never finished worse than fourth in this tournament.

• Henrik Stenson, winner of the WGC – Accenture Match Play, will be aiming to become the first European Tour Member to win two WGC events in the same season.

• Six European Tour Members are making their debut appearance in a World Golf Championship event. They are: Grégory Havret, José Manuel Lara, Andres Romero, Richard Sterne, Graeme Storm and Wen-Chong Liang.
