DID YOU KNOW – THE BARCLAYS SCOTTISH OPEN
• Defending champion, Martin Kaymer will attempt to create history by becoming the first player to successfully defend The Barclays Scottish Open. Should he be successful, he would join Bernhard Langer (1981-1982 and 1985-1986 German Open) as the only German player to win the same event in back-to-back years.
• South African Ernie Els, has the best record of any player in recent years in The Barclays Scottish Open. A winner in 2000 and 2003, he also finished third in 2004 and 2007 and ninth in 2006 and 2008. His last 36 rounds over the Loch Lomond course, dating back to 2000, Els is a total of 91 under par, with a stroke average of 68.47. From those 36 rounds, 31 of them were under par, including 27 in the 60s. He is the only player to win the event twice at Loch Lomond.
• The 2000 event marked the last time on The European Tour International Schedule that two players had successive holes-in-one at the same hole. Jarmo Sandelin, playing in the final group in round three achieved an ace at the par 17th, followed by fellow Swede Mathias Grönberg playing in the first group out in the final round.
• The true quality of the field assembled for The Barclays Scottish Open is highlighted by the fact there are 12 Major Champions and 105 European Tour winners competing.
