Justin Rose suddenly found he had Rory McIlroy to worry about as he battled for the WGC-Cadillac Championship in Miami.

With six holes to play Rose led Americans Keegan Bradley and overnight leader Bubba Watson by one and McIlroy, Masters Champion Charl Schwartzel and Swede Peter Hanson by two.

McIlroy had been eight behind teeing off, but went to the turn in 33, got up and down from sand at the long tenth and then holed out from a greenside bunker for eagle at the par five 12th.

That reduced the World Number One's deficit to only one, but he drove into trouble at the 14th and for the second round running - he came to the hole nine under par for the day yesterday - could not save par.

Watson had been three clear when he resumed, but after a two-putt birdie on the first was all over the show. He had three bogeys in a row from the third and turned in 39 before getting his act back together with a birdie on the 11th.

Bradley, who won the US PGA Championship last August in his very first start in a Major, led by two after seven holes, having eagled the first, but took six at the long eighth and then four-putted from just off the tenth green for another bogey.

The day's dramatic events also included Paul Casey holing-in-one at the 15th. There was a car on display behind the tee, but after promising caddie Craig Connelly half of what it was worth they discovered that it was the prize for an ace on the 13th.

Rose was caught when Watson almost pitched in for eagle at the 12th, but the left-hander followed that with a shove into a bunker.

Bogeying there dropped Watson back into a tie for second with Bradley and McIlroy, who hit back from his bogey by holing from six feet for birdie at the 16th.
