The Diamond Country Club, opened in 2000, is an hour from the Austrian capital Vienna. Water is the golf courses main defence with water hazards featuring on 13 holes. There have been two changes to the course ahead of this years event, a green side bunker has been added on the 9th as well as a new pond being added to the 13th. The Jeremy Pern designed course is flat and exposed so there could be some wind around throughout the week.
The Poa and Rye grass on the tees this week has been hand cut to 10mm.
The players will be happy to know the fairways aren't narrow this week and are in excellent condition. When they find the fairways the ball will be on 10mm Poa and Rye grass.
If the fairways are missed this week there will be three different grades of rough to be found. The semi will be 25mm, the intermediate rough will be at 52mm while the thickest rough will have its final cut on Monday and will be 83mm.
The greens at Diamond CC are made up of A4 Agrostis and Poa grass, this week they will be cut at 2.5mm and will run at 11'5" on the stimp meter.
In the run up to the event the weather has been mostly dry with a few showers. The forecast is mixed for the tournament with a mix of sun and clouds. There is a chance of afternoon thunderstorms as well.
