The best facts and stats from the final round at Royal Birkdale as Jordan Spieth won his third Major Championship title.

- Spieth becomes the second youngest golfer after Jack Nicklaus to win three different majors. Nicklaus was 23 years and six months exactly while Spieth is 23 years, 11 months, 26 days. Tiger Woods was 24 and Rory McIlroy 25.

5 – Spieth’s five under par for the final five holes was the best closing five holes in Open history by a winner, surpassing the four under by Henrik Stenson last year. 

5 – Spieth becomes only the fifth player to win The Open with four rounds in the 60s after Greg Norman (1983), Nick Price (1994), Tiger Woods (2000), Henrik Stenson (2016). Only nine players have shot four rounds in the 60s in Open history.

3 – Majors now for Spieth after winning the 2015 Masters and US Open. He will have a chance to win the Grand Slam next month at the US PGA.

9 – times out of his last ten 54-hole leads that Spieth has converted into victory.

6 - becomes the sixth player to win multiple Majors leading after every round, following Tiger Woods (four times), Jack Nicklaus and Raymond Floyd (three times) and Arnold Palmer and Rory McIlroy (twice)

66 - Spieth becomes the 66th player to carry the 54-hole lead/co-lead on to victory at The Open Championship, with Henrik Stenson (2016) the previous most recent to do so.

45 – Spieth becomes 45th player to win three or more Major Championships

63 – by Li Haotong for a six under par total was only the 11th 63 in Open Championship history and only the fourth in the final round. Only one person has ever bettered a 63 in Major Championship golf – Branden Grace the previous day. This is the best ever finish by a golfer from China in a Major Championshiop

235,000 – a record attendance for an Open outside St Andrews.

 – Alfie Plant finished tied 62nd to win the Silver Medal as the leading amateur
