Anders Forsbrand kept up the pressure on overnight leader Mark James in the final round of the ISPS Handa PGA Seniors Championship, closing the gap at the top of the leaderboard to one shot at the turn.

Forsbrand, who is chasing his maiden European Senior Tour title, started the day two shots behind the former Ryder Cup Captain and dropped a shot on the second hole.

James then dropped a shot himself on the third before both players birdied the fourth and fifth holes, but Forsbrand closed the gap to one shot by picking up another shot on the eighth.

They both dropped another shot on the tricky ninth hole, with James level par for the day at the turn to remain on five under par and Forsbrand one under par to move to four under. Defending champion Andrew Oldcron also remained in contention despite dropping shots on the second and third holes.

The Scot, who won by nine strokes last year, hit back with birdies on the fifth and six holes to reach the turn in level par, three under par for the tournament.

Carl Mason, winner at De Vere Slaley Hall in 2009, was the big mover from the early starters, opening with four birdies in six holes.

The tournament was reduced to 54 holes after heavy rain on Friday caused play to be suspended.
