The European Senior Tour will return to two familiar venues in 2017 with the addition of the Paris Legends Championship and WINSTONgolf Senior Open to next season’s schedule.
The inaugural Paris Legends Championship, played in September, took place at Le Golf National, host venue of The 2018 Ryder Cup and a European Tour Destination.
Sweden’s Magnus P Atlevi was victorious on L’Albatros course in 2016, with a winning score of eight under par.
The tournament will be played from September 28-30, exactly one year before Europe attempt to regain the Ryder Cup from the United States.
David MacLaren, Head of the European Senior Tour, said: “Watching our Members play on The 2018 Ryder Cup course earlier this year was very special, but it will be even more so when we return to Le Golf National next year just one year out from The Ryder Cup.
“We received great feedback from our valued partners Pitch & Play after the inaugural edition of the tournament and we are delighted to confirm we will return to Paris in 2017.”
WINSTONgolf will host the sixth edition of the WINSTONgolf Senior Open from July 14-16 next year, with the tournament returning to the WINSTONlinks course.
Designed as an ‘inland’ links course, the tournament was played on the WINSTONlinks course for the first time in 2016, with Scotland’s Andrew Oldcorn emerging victorious in a play-off with Paul Broadhurst.
European Senior Tour members will again compete for a prize fund of €350,000.
Tournament Director Ronny Woisin expects another high-calibre field of participants for 2017. “We played on the WINSTONlinks Course for the first time last year, and the resulting feedback we received from all the officials and players was entirely positive,” said Woisin.
“We passed the trial this year with flying colours and now we are already working hard to present a superbly prepared and challenging course next summer. We achieved a record attendance this year with 4,600 spectators – and would like to break that record next year.”
MacLaren added: “It feels like being at home now when we are at WINSTONgolf – we are always in very good hands and well supported. The organisation by the WINSTONgolf team and Langer Sport Marketing is always highly professional and we look forward to returning for the event next year.”
The full schedule for the 2017 Senior Tour season will be announced in the New Year.
