VTB Bank has been announced as the title sponsor of this year’s Russian Open Golf Championship as the Staysure Tour returns to Russia for the first time since 2014.

Taking place at Moscow Country Club, a European Tour Destination, Staysure Tour members will vie for a $500,000 prize fund from August 17-19.

The 1989 European Tour Number One Ronan Rafferty headlines the field which includes fellow Ryder Cup players Barry Lane, Phillip Price, Jarmo Sandelin and Stephen Richardson.

Phillip Golding will be bidding for back-to-back victories after securing his fifth Staysure Tour title at the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship, while Stephen Dodd will also go in search of his second win of the season after his success at the WINSTONgolf Senior Open in July.

Nick Job will also become just the second person in history to have played 300 Staysure Tour events. Denis O’Sullivan was the first to reach that milestone in 2016.

David MacLaren, Head of the Staysure Tour, said: “We are all looking forward to returning to Russia, and our thanks go to VTB for their support of this year’s Russian Open Golf Championship.

“This event provides an excellent platform to demonstrate the fantastic facilities at Moscow Country Club, and we are looking forward to another thrilling week of action on the Staysure Tour.”
