Best rounds of 2019

The 2019 Staysure Tour season was filled with thrilling moments and eye-catching action as 61 rounds of golf made up the year with three rounds, in particular, standing out.

Clark Dennis – WINSTONgolf Senior Open

Clark Dennis started his final round at WINSTONgolf Senior Open six shots behind 36-hole leader José María Olazábal but finished the event one stroke ahead of the two-time Masters Tournament Champion after a storming nine under par round of 63.

The Texan began his final 18 holes at WINSTONgolf with three birdies in his opening five holes, setting the wheels in motion for a final day charge. Another gain came at the 11th as he moved through the gears and up the leaderboard.

His birdie at 13 was the first of five consecutive shots he picked up on the back nine as he hit the front following six birdies in eight holes. With Olazábal dropping a shot at the 16th and the clubhouse target set at 15 under par, Dennis claimed his fifth Staysure Tour title after recording the lowest finish by a winner on the Staysure Tour in 2019.

José Coceres – Murhof Legends – Austrian Senior Open

José Coceres recorded the lowest round of the year at the Murhof Legends – Austrian Senior Open with a ten under par round of 62 on day two at the maiden event.

The Argentine surged to the top of the leaderboard at the conclusion of the second round after going bogey-free at Golfclub Murhof.

He started the round with back-to-back birdies before reaching the turn with three consecutive gains from the seventh hole to go out in 31 strokes. The assault from the Argentinian star continued on the back nine as he picked up five shots in seven holes, finishing with three successive gains to sign for a round of 62.

The stunning 18-hole score was Coceres’ lowest round of his career, which saw him begin the day two strokes off the lead but end it with a six-shot advantage, en route to lifting the inaugural title in Frohnleiten a day later.

Markus Brier – Farmfoods European Legends Links Championship hosted by Ian Woosnam

When the rain poured and the wind roared players were tested to the max during the final round at the Farmfoods European Legends Links Championship hosted by Ian Woosnam. However, there was one player who used the conditions to his advantage.

Markus Brier charged up the leaderboard from tied 24th to a share of sixth place following a sensational final round of 64, eight under par, which included a hole-in-one at the par three eighth.

Four gains in his opening five holes set the tempo for the Austrian’s round and even a dropped shot at the seventh along with the persistent rain could not dampen his spirit. He aced the following hole and picked up a final birdie on the front nine at the ninth, reaching the turn in six under par.

The two-time European Tour winner continued his form on the back nine, picking up a stroke at the tenth before making consecutive birdies from the 14th ahead of a bogey at the final hole. It was a red-hot round from Brier and his lowest score on the Staysure Tour since he became senior in July 2018.
