The expertise from the European Tour Performance Institute has been benefitting Tour players throughout the season with the latest technology from aboutGolf helping improve performance at the highest level.

Rich Beem, Rafael Cabera-Bello, Raphaël Jacquelin, Mikael Jonzon, Matteo Manassero and Justin Rose are among the players using the ETPI service, recently featured on the driving range at Le Golf National, a European Tour Destination, during the Alstom Open de France.

It was the third time this season that the professionals have had the opportunity to have their game analysed with the mobile data gathering equipment provided by aboutGolf, using a similar service to what is available with ETPI at another European Tour Destination: Terre Blanche, near Cannes in the south of France.

The programme started in the Middle East during the Omega Dubai Desert Classic before moving on to Wentworth Club during the BMW PGA Championship and then Le Golf National. The analysis will continue at the Omega European Masters next month at the new Performance Centre, incorporating the Angel Gallardo Golf Academy , at Crans-sur-Sierre, and then during the Portugal Masters at Oceanica Victoria GC, Vilamoura.

Physio Unit Director Rob Hillman and Head of Biomechanics and Sport Performance Jean Jacques Rivet, who is based at ETPI at Terre Blanche, analaysed weight transfer, force and ball flight data from players who want to develop personalised programmes along the ETPIme process.

The information is amassed by ETPI and supported by the accuracy and reliability of aboutGolf’s products – which allow more effective instruction and tracking of measurable results.

Cabrera-Bello is among those using the ETPIme process. Referred by his swing coach, David Leadbetter, who had some questions about Rafael’s balance and how it related to his ball flight, the Omega Dubai Dessert Classic champion hit balls at Wentworth with aboutGolf’s aG Balance Pro Tour force platform and aG Mobile launch monitor collecting his data. As a result of ETPI’s analysis of this data, he received a personalised and targeted training programme from ETPI. Follow up assessment at Le Golf National showed his balance and ball flight has improved.

“I don’t have to think about changing my swing, all I have to do is to follow my training programme and my swing improves!” he said.

The European Tour Performance Institute, the first of which is located at Terre Blanche, allows golfers of all abilities to practice, learn and improve using tools developed by elite European Tour professionals, from areas of golf, sports medicine and sports science.
