Classy Mory turns up the heat on day three in Sweden

Felix Mory will take a two-shot lead into the final day of the Dormy Open after posting a six under par round of 66 at Österåkers Golfklubb.

The Frenchman finished the day on 17 under par, overturning a three-shot deficit to move clear of local boy Björn Hellgren. Mory is proud of his performance, which included seven birdies and an eagle as he looks to propel himself up the 2021 Road to Mallorca Rankings tomorrow.

“I’m happy with the way I played today,” said Mory. “Even though I didn’t strike it as well as yesterday, I’m really happy with my score and still managed to make par when I missed the green so overall, I’m happy with my round.

“I was pretty aggressive on the par fives but other than that my game plan was pretty much the same as yesterday.”

Mory’s brilliant round ignited after an eagle on the fifth, followed by three consecutive birdies, propelling him to the top of the leaderboard. He will be hoping for more of the same tomorrow as he searches for a maiden European Challenge Tour victory in just his fourth event.

“The key holes were five, six, seven and eight as I went eagle, birdie, birdie and birdie. I hit some great shots there and got it very close,” he added.“I’m excited and looking forward to the challenge tomorrow.”

Sweden’s Hampus Bergman sits in third place on 11 under par, six shots off the lead. There is plenty of experience behind with former Challenge Tour winners Roope Kakko and Ricardo Gouveia sharing fourth place with Jérôme Lando Casanova of France and young Swede Marcus Svensson, all on nine under par.

The final round of the Dormy Open will begin at 08:05am local time on Saturday May 21, with Mory teeing it up in the final group alongside Hellgren and Bergman at 10:00.
