A total of €5,000 has been raised for the Mallorca Preservation Foundation as part of the successful Green Drive campaign held at the Rolex Grand Final supported by The R&A.

The Green Drive returned for the third successive year at the HotelPlanner Tour’s season-finale took place at Club de Golf Alcanada, with €100 donated to the Mallorca Preservation Foundation for every player that drove the green on the par four 15th.

In total, 25 players drove the green across the four tournament rounds, resulting in €2,500 being raised, with the HotelPlanner Tour doubling that total, ensuring that €5,000 will assist the Foundation in their continued efforts to boost local tree planting and organic farming in the community.

Ana Riera, Executive Director of Mallorca Preservation: “We are very pleased with the outcome of this edition.

“Thanks to the support of the HotelPlanner Tour and the Rolex Grand Final, €5,000 has been raised, which will enable us to launch a new edition of the Mallorca en Fruit project.

“This contribution will allow us to continue supporting local farmers in planting more fruit trees and to make progress in restoring the island's agricultural biodiversity. It is a very valuable collaboration for us, and we are eager to continue developing it in the coming years."

Sustainability initiatives at the Rolex Grand Final

The Green Drive was one of several sustainability initiatives in place at the Rolex Grand Final, which aligns with the European Tour group’s Golf for Good.

Leading that was the G4D Tour Series Finale which took place at Club de Golf Alcanada for the first time. With ten of the leading golfers with a disability playing across three days, Englishman Kipp Popert successfully defended his Gross title, while Daniel Slabbert from South Africa triumphed in the Net competition.

Elsewhere, recycling bins were placed at 42 different locations around the venue, with Mallorcan waste management supplier, Adalmo, managing this effort.

Filtered drinking water fountains were available site-wide for players, caddies, staff and spectators to refill their own bottle, reducing the amount of single use plastic on site, with all players, caddies and staff also provided with a reuseable water bottle.

Accreditation passes were made from recycled materials and there was a full transfer to digital ticketing for the 2025 event.

There was a 50% reduction in staff hire cars and a thorough bus shuttle service for event stakeholders, helping to minimise the number of individual car journeys. There was also a robust bus shuttle schedule, from both tournament hotels, delivered by ROIG Drive Mallorca, reducing the need for tournament stakeholders to hire cars and take individual journeys.

The media centre and tournament offices on site at Club de Golf Alcanada were powered by grid power, rather than generators.

Food for the week was sourced locally, with the tournament and venue working closely with local suppliers.
