Hamish Brown is relishing getting back on the DP World Tour in 2027 as he enters the HotelPlanner Tour Grand Final with a "free mind".
It is the second time in three seasons that the Dane arrives at Club de Golf Alcanada knowing he is guaranteed a place on golf's Global Tour but this time he has the Road to Mallorca title in his sights.
His victory last time out at the Hangzhou Open catapulted him to the top of the Rankings and now he has the chance to continue a fine history of Danish champions.
Thomas Bjørn, Marcus Helligkilde and Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen have all finished atop the standings and while Brown admits the pressure is off a little this week, he would love to follow in their footsteps.
"I can't really control if I stay there or not," he said. "I'm just going to try and do my best and see where that takes me. It's a different week, it's the last week of the year so I go in with kind of a free mind. If I win, I win - if I don't, I don't.
"You had Marco (Penge) in 2023, Rasmus the year afterwards when I was there myself and they've done quite well so I wouldn't mind copying them. It doesn't guarantee anything but it's a nice one to have and I'll try my best to get it.
"I can't wait to get back. The schedule looks perfect to me. It's going to be a lot of golf, a lot of great places and great events. It will be good to see some old faces again."
Brown finished in a tie for ninth in his only appearance at this event in 2024, ten shots back as Kristoffer Reitan – now a DP World Tour and PGA Tour winner – claimed victory.
He had also won in China to seal his card on that occasion – albeit at the Hainan Classic that time – and he is happy to be coming in in good form, making it easy to keep his head.
"It was a bit of a testing week two years ago," he said. "I was always trying to catch up because people were that many under par and I wasn't but it was good memories and I'll try and do it again.
"It's a bit different from two years ago (in Hangzhou) because two years ago I was already safe before that. I don't think I was quite safe before I won it this time.
"Sunday was hard but it was just a week of just trying to keep my head down and see where I ended up. Obviously you try and do that every week but some weeks it's not as easy. It was relief and a lot of pressure off my shoulders.
"I'm just trying to do what I did in China. I get angry sometimes and chuck my putter in the water and do stupid stuff and it's probably not the best thing to do, especially not when you have six more holes to play.
"I'm trying to not do that but it's hard in golf because we've got all the pressure and stress of trying to get to the next level and play good golf. But I'll just try and take it easy and not get too flustered about it, it's just golf at the end of the day."
